Snow Week Update

Or should I say daily update, since that’s all we got to this week!!!

Reminders:
  •         Since we did not have school today, we will be taking the vocabulary, spelling, and relative pronoun quizzes on Monday. Please make sure your child is studying over the weekend!
  •         For the parts of speech quiz on Wednesday, the students will be given a sentence and they will have to identify the parts of speech for each word. I found this game online, and I think it will be helpful. I even had fun playing it! http://www.abcya.com/parts_of_speech.htm
  •         If your child has not turned in their permission form for the Tellus Museum, please have them do so as soon as possible.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend, and be careful when you are out and about today!

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Thank you!

Happy Holidays!!!

Good afternoon!
Wow! I cannot believe we are half way through the school year! Where does the time go? I have enjoyed being your child’s ELA teacher, and I am looking forward to finishing out the year with them.

As we get into the new year, it is a good time to set some goals with your child. Please make sure your child is reading at home each night. It is so crucial that the kids read for 2 hours each week, or more! This would be about 20 minutes each night. If your child has practice or something going on one day during the week, they should double up another day. It’s hard for me to hold them accountable at home, so your help with this would be greatly appreciated!

Also, your child is going home with a Winter Wish List. We have noticed that many students are quickly running out of supplies that they use daily. Some of which being pencils, glue sticks, and sticky notes. Please check your child’s individual list for supplies they need and refill them over the break if you can! We would really appreciate it!

I hope you and your family have a fun, wonderful, and very restful holiday break. I will see you all in 2018!

·       We will be having our class book exchange during our holiday party on December 15th. Please send in a wrapped book with your child no later than Wednesday, December 13th. Girls will be exchanging books with girls, and boys will be exchanging books with boys. So, as you are finding books, please find one that you think a 4th grade boy or girl would enjoy. Books do not have to be brand new, however they must be in good condition. Remember, this will be a new book to another child.
·       Our holiday party will be on December 15th at 12:00. You are welcome to come join us for some holiday fun!
·       Our reading focus for next week will be text structures and our writing focus will be opinion writing.
·       We are finished with vocabulary and the no excuse words for this year! We will pick back up in January.

I hope you all make it home safely on this crazy day! Have a great weekend!
