Week 30 Update

Good afternoon parents,

Reminders:

•        Please encourage your child to practice for the Milestone over the break. You can tell them their mean teacher said they need to practice, but it’s because I love them J

Week 29 Update

Good afternoon parents,

I hope you were able to enjoy our VIP Tea today. The kids were so excited and so proud to show off all of their hard work! They did a fantastic job!

Reminders:

•        The STEAM Run is next Friday, 3/30, during specials. Please make sure your child wears tennis shoes. All packets should be returned on Friday, even those without donations!
•        The No Excuse and Vocab quizzes are on Tuesday, March 27^th.
•        Please make sure your child is practicing for the Milestone for at least 20 minutes each night. They can complete the practice on my blog, or go to Education Galaxy. The students will begin the ELA portion of the Milestone on April 10^th , this is right around the corner!
•        Next week we will be discussing the elements of poetry and reviewing extensively for the Milestone!

Week 28 Update

•      Our next No Excuse and Vocab quizzes will be on March 27^th.
•      The VIP Tea is on Friday the 23^rd. Please join us any time between 8:30 and 9:15 to see all the hard work your child has been doing in class!
•         Please make sure your child is practicing for the Milestone for at least 20 minutes each night. They can go to either of the two links on my blog under “Test Prep”, or they can do Reading or Language Arts practice on Education Galaxy. We only have 11 school days left before the Milestone, so it’s important that your child is practicing every night. Yes, even on the weekends! J

Week 27 Update

Reminders:

•          Spring picture day is on Friday 3/16. We will also be taking our class picture this day, so even if you are not ordering pictures for your child please make sure they look nice for our class picture!
•          We will be taking our Vocab and No Excuse Words quizzes on Monday.
•           Please make sure your child begins working on their final copy of questions. These should be neatly written or typed. They should also begin memorizing their answers.
•          Continue to have your child work on the test prep links that are located on my blog.

Week 26 Update

Good afternoon parents,

Reminders:

•         Our next vocabulary quiz and no excuse words quiz will be on Monday, March 12^th.
•         Our reading focus for next week is inferencing, and in writing we will continue to research the VIPs.
•        Science Day is next Friday! We look forward to a fun, science-filled day!
•        Please make sure your child is beginning to work on their poster and shoe box at home. They should also begin working on 12 questions that they will be asked at the VIP Tea. These questions should not be just yes or no questions, but should be questions like “Where were you born?”, “When were you born?”, “What are you most famous for in American History?”, etc. These questions will be due by next Friday for me to check over and approve. They should have their questions AND answers completed by Friday, March 9^th.

Week 25 Update

Good afternoon,

How is it already our winter break? I feel like just last week we were having our fall break! I am so proud of the kids and all of the hard work they are putting in, it is truly showing in their work. I look forward to having this week off to rest, relax, and recharge! Please make sure your child knows we will be hitting the ground running to prepare for the Milestone tests once we return from the break.

Reminders:

•         Your child should know who they are researching for the VIP project. If your child cannot get a book, we will have books here for them to use. I do encourage you to try to find books at the library because there are some students who are researching the same person, so books will be limited as all of 4^th grade will need books at the same time.
•          After the break our reading focus will be inferencing,  and our writing focus will be the VIP project. 
•           The next vocabulary and no excuse words quiz will be on March 9^th.  
•         In your child’s Thursday folder, you should have received a green paper that contains a letter from Mr. Wagner. He is finishing up his specialist degree and one of the requirements is filming a lesson that he teaches and reflecting on the lesson. In order to film, he must have parent’s permission to film. Please help us help Mr. Wagner finish up his specialist degree!!!

We are looking for donations of the following items for a STEM project coming up after the break:

•          water bottles
•          2 liter bottles
•          Egg cartons
•      Toilet paper and paper towel rolls
•          Cereal boxes
•         Plastic grocery bags
•          Plastic bottle caps
•          Any plastic (rinsed) containers

Week 24 Update

Good afternoon,

We had so much fun at the Tellus Museum on Wednesday! I hope your child was able to tell you all about it!

Reminders:

•         We will be having our Valentine exchange on Wednesday. Please send in 24 Valentines with your child. They can make a box at home, or they can just bring in a bag to hold their Valentines.
•        The vocab lesson 11 and no excuse words quizzes will be on Friday. There is no specific list for the no excuse words. At this point they should know the spelling of all of the words, and I will randomly assess them on the quiz.
•         Our reading focus for next week will be author’s claim. In writing we will continue to practice for the Milestone. Our grammar focus will be commas.
