Week 12 Update

Good afternoon,

Here are some reminders:

•        We are partnering with Kennesaw Mountain High School to do a canned food drive. I have attached information about the Canned Food Contest. Please print this out and send it in with your can donation.
•         Our celebration for Veterans is on November 10^th at 9 AM. All 4^th graders will be participating. Please invite any veterans you know to join us so we can thank them for their service!
•        Students will be quizzed on vocabulary words from lessons 1-5 on Friday, November 3^rd. Students were given a list of specific words that they need to study, along with a list of the roots and prefixes they need to know. Students will only be required to use the words in a sentence. So, please encourage your child to write the words in a sentence by themselves. This helps the kids learn how to use the words in context.
•         Their no excuse words quiz will be on Friday, November 3^rd as well.
•      Our reading focus for next week will be point of view.
•           Our writing focus for next will be to complete our first opinion essay.

Week 11 Update

Good morning!

Thank you so much for taking time out of your day and week to come to our conference. I really enjoyed meeting with each of you to talk about your precious child. I am truly blessed with a wonderful class!

Reminders:

• Please have students bring in their painted pumpkins on Tuesday the 24^th. The pumpkins should NOT be completed, just painted a solid color if needed since there will not be enough time for it to dry in class.
• Our Pumpkin Transformations will take place on Wednesday, October 25^th.
•  Box Tops are due on October 27^th.
•  Next week is Red Ribbon Week. Please see the following list of dress up days:

o   Monday: Wear Red to kick off Red Ribbon week

o   Tuesday:  Let’s Tie Down and Boot Out Drugs!!! Wear Bow Ties, Bows, or Boots

o   Wednesday: Sock it to Drugs!!! Wear Crazy Socks

o   Thursday: Put a Cap on Drugs!!! Wear Hats

o   Friday: My Character is Too Great for Drugs!!!” Dress up as Your Favorite Story Book Character

• Our reading focus next week will be on point of view. Our writing focus will be opinion writing. The next vocabulary and no excuse words quiz will be on November 3^rd. The vocabulary will be over Lessons 1-5 so please make sure your child starts studying now!

Week 10 Update

Reminders:

•          Next week is conference week, students will be dismissed at 12:30 each day. Please arrive 5 minutes prior to your scheduled conference time to ensure that we stay on time. •          The no excuse words and the vocabulary quiz will be on Friday, October 20^th.

If you have any extra glue sticks around your house, we would greatly appreciate them! I’m convinced that the kids are eating the glue sticks or something because they are dwindling so quickly!
