Happy Holidays!!!

Good afternoon!
Wow! I cannot believe we are half way through the school year! Where does the time go? I have enjoyed being your child’s ELA teacher, and I am looking forward to finishing out the year with them.

As we get into the new year, it is a good time to set some goals with your child. Please make sure your child is reading at home each night. It is so crucial that the kids read for 2 hours each week, or more! This would be about 20 minutes each night. If your child has practice or something going on one day during the week, they should double up another day. It’s hard for me to hold them accountable at home, so your help with this would be greatly appreciated!

Also, your child is going home with a Winter Wish List. We have noticed that many students are quickly running out of supplies that they use daily. Some of which being pencils, glue sticks, and sticky notes. Please check your child’s individual list for supplies they need and refill them over the break if you can! We would really appreciate it!

I hope you and your family have a fun, wonderful, and very restful holiday break. I will see you all in 2018!

Week 15 Update

Good afternoon!
I cannot believe that Thanksgiving break is already here! We had so much fun with our fall centers today. Your child brought home some pumpkin play dough today that they made, if they have it in their backpack you will want to take it out and keep it in the refrigerator so it does not mold! We don’t want smelly backpacks when we return from break!

Reminders:
  • ·         I will be placing a Scholastic Book order on November 27th. Books are GREAT Christmas gifts for the kiddos, and you can find some really great deals on books through Scholastic. We will also be doing a book exchange at our holiday party, so this is a great way to get a book! Girls will be exchanging books with girls, and boys will be exchanging books with boys.
    •        If you would like to order a book go to https://clubs.scholastic.com/home and type in our class code Q79JX. When you order through our class, we get new books for our classroom library!

Week 4 Update

Good afternoon families!
We have been working really hard in reading and writing! I am proud of the effort they are putting in.

Reminders:
  •         Lollipops are on back order and will not be sold next week.
  •         Next Wednesday, August 30th is an early release day. The students will be dismissed 2 hours early.
  •        There will be a spelling and vocabulary quiz on Friday, September 1st.
  •        On Friday, September 1st students may wear their favorite college/professional football team shirt to kick off football season!
  •        Information on the Fall Festival went home yesterday in the Thursday folders. If you wish to attend, please complete and return the form by September 7th.
  •        Please sign and return the stapled packet of graded paper in your child’s Thursday folder along with any corrections your child may have made. All other loose papers should be left at home.

Please remind your child that they need to be responsible for their work, journals, books, etc. Many students are leaving these items at home. As a result, they are losing Dojo’s for being unprepared. I realize that 4th grade is a big transition year, but it is important that your child comes prepared to school. It is their responsibility to pack their backpacks at night or in the morning. Your support with encouraging responsibility is greatly appreciated!

If you have any questions, please let me know!

Week 2 Update

Good afternoon!
Thank you so much for coming to Open House last night! I appreciate you taking the time out of your evening to come learn about your child’s 4th grade year. If you were unable to make it, I am emailing a copy of the PowerPoint I shared.

-       - Vocabulary and Spelling Quiz on Friday
-       - Student Council speeches will be held on August 23rd and the class will vote on our 2 classroom representatives. Any student giving a speech may not bring any sort of food or candy to pass out to students.
-       - Students should be reading 20 minutes each night for a total of 2 hours each week.
-       - Please allow your child to clean out their binder as this helps with personal responsibility and they know what papers are and are not allowed to be taken out. Also, students should not complete any work inside their binders/folders unless it is written down in their agenda. If they tell you they don’t have to do it and it isn’t written in their agenda, I promise they are not lying to you! If you are ever unsure, you are always more than welcome to email me! Thanks for your support!

I hope you all have a wonderful, restful weekend!

Week 30

Hi parents,
I want to remind you that next Wednesday, April 19th we begin the Milestone testing. It is so important that students show up on time. Please make sure your child gets to bed early so they can get lots of sleep along with having a healthy breakfast!

Here is the schedule for testing:
Wednesday 4/19 ELA Section 1
Thursday 4/20 ELA Section 2
Friday 4/21 ELA Section 3
Monday 4/24 Math Section 1
Tuesday 4/25 Math Section 2

Remind your child that there is no need to stress about the test. They have been given the tools they need to be successful, so if they pull from their "tool box" they will do just fine!

Also, the Bullard Foundation is still accepting order forms to get a cow! Please help support our foundation!
This is a note from the foundation!

Please help support our first Chic Fila Cow Drop.  Green order forms were sent home before spring break.  The foundation has been working hard to raise funds to hire a teacher for our STEAM lab.  This event will continue to build towards that goal.  Each Chic Fila Cow is  $5 and the number of cows you can purchase is unlimited.  Each student who participates will receive a small plush Chic Fila cow after our big drop on April 28th.   The participant who lands closest to our bullseye will receive Chic Fila for a year.   There are a variety of other prizes to win as well!   The last day to pre-order cows is Tuesday April 18th.   Help make this event “udderly” amazing with your donation.

There are 25 students in the class so please make sure there is one for every child if they decide to participate (only those who give Valentines can receive Valentines). They should only sign their name, they do not need to be addressed to individual students. This helps save time when passing them out!
